But can it help you find love – or perhaps just a date on Valentine’s Day?
For Ben Chiang, co-founder of the Volar Start-up, AI may not be an end-solution to avoid sight of the always, but it can help cross the interaction with strangers on the matchmaking apps.
A former Snap and Uber Executive Chiang said he came up with a concept for Volar, headquartered in Venice, California, but is a team in Mountain view in response to his personal experience on other dating applications.
“Finding photos is fast and easy,” said Chiang. “The hard part was constantly reaching out. And often, the response is not received.”

But for Volar, which was launched in December, AI only works half. And this is by design.

While even widely popular bumblers and Tinder have integrated AI features in their applications, Chiang said he wanted to ensure that Vollers wanted to treat users’ privacy care. He also wants this transparency so that users always know when they are engaged with AI-borne materials, which may not always be clear on other applications.
“In our case, we are clear. Font is different, and everything is different. Dating still requires human connection,” Chiang said. “I want to be very clear; AI helps you start, but it is human later, and there is no AI after that.”

The Bay Area is currently the third largest market of Volar after Austin, Texas, where the app was first launched, and New York, Chiang said. The region registers thousands of new users weekly and stands out as one of the fastest growing areas since nationwide and expanded to Canada.
But how much is it just likely that AI can help single people developing long -lasting love?
Silicon Valley-based dating coach Julia Malakiman said that Volar’s AI technology would “be a good way for people to remove that obstacle in dating for the first time” but called it a “band-aid fix”.
“I personally look at long -term problems with such technology,” said Malakiman. “The issue is that we are trying to do human things like finding connections and intimacy through the means of AI, which is not working.”
“While AI is great to solve problems in current society, for dating, it requires mutual and communication skills such as honesty and open communication,” he said.
A clinical psychologist at the Bay Area Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center said that as far as dating profiles leave, AI “AI” can be extremely effective in giving questionnaires to people, taking specific psychological data related to relationships, and matches people on the basis of psychological and emotional compatibility. “
