Wral News has received the following statements from both CSX and Federal Railroad Administration.

Statements from CSX:

“CSX confirms that a track maintenance worker was badly injured while performing his duties in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Our thoughts and deep condolences go out for his family and friends. We are currently doing the incident to support them. The incident is being investigated.”

Statements from Federal Railway Administration:

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is investigating the employee as we are all on the decision of the railway employee. As a background, please see our accident probe fact sheet and note that the FRA does not release the initial conclusions or the initial determination of the cause.

The duration of the accident investigation varies, but in general we want to complete them within 6 months. Once finalized, the investigation reports are posted in our allibrery.

In addition, the Railways will have to submit a form on qualification phenomena under the FRA’s accident/incident reporting rules (49 CFR Part 225), in which they are 30 days after the month. Those submissions depict an accident or rail route of the incident and after three months the FRA safety data and reporting are posted on the website.
