Two rescued from fire in Boston, MA – NECN

Boston’s firefighters responded to a fire on Monday morning in the city’s Rocksbury neighborhood, saving two people who were shouting for help from the second floor window.

The Boston Fire Department stated that the flames were heavy when they arrived, spread from the back to the basement and quickly traveled through the front and then through the roof.

A fire broke out at a duplex at Woodbine Street in Rocksbury around 4 am on Monday. All five people living in the building are accounted for, but some of them were trapped inside the building.

The firefightings were able to save a man and a woman on a ground ladder from the second floor, and they also saved a dog from the nearby unit.

A woman who lives in the building and a fire fighter was rushed to the local hospital with minor injuries. Deputy Fire Chief Brian Tully said that when he reached the spot, the woman was on oxygen. He appreciated firefighters for a well-done job in sub-freeing temperature.

“The fire proceeded so soon.

Firefighting was still working in the building around 5:30 am, and the fire officials said the building would soon board.

The fire caused a huge damage to the fire behind the building, and the red cross was on the spot on Monday morning, working to find temporary shelters for the residents displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
