A resident saw smoke in his 115 S Vasas St. Home Saturday night at Streater and called 911.
Streater Firefighters responded in less than 2 minutes and discovered the origin of the fire under a porch. They extinguished the fire and were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
Damage to the house with smoke and fire damage under the porch area was minor. An investigation was unable to determine the cause of the fire. There was no injury.
The Streetor Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Vermilian Valley Emergency Communications, Streater Police, Illinois American Water, Nicor and Comed.
