South Burlington, Vt. deadly crash – NECN


According to the police, a cyclist has died after a hit-and-run accident in South Burlington, Vermont of Vermont late on Saturday night.

The witnesses told the police that the cyclist, who has not been publicly identified, was never stopped by the driver at around 11:15 am by a yellow mini cooper on Shellburn Road. The cyclist was declared dead on the scene.

Investigators found the suspected vehicle and driver, identified as 38 -year -old Steven Olngo at the Travel Lodge in South Burlington. Photos released by the police show damage to the windshield and front end of the car.


Olngo was arrested and accused of leaving an accident scene- a deadly and careless operation. Investigators stated that their license was suspended and the vehicle registration was exhausted. He is being held on bail of $ 5,000.

Police noted that Olngo had a long criminal history in Vermont and was last arrested for DUI in July 2023.

During the same call, a South Burlington Police Cruiser was killed by another driver melting the scene. The cruiser was destroyed, but no one suffered a serious injury. The driver was accused of DUI.
