Chatsworth – Sierra Canian Girls Basketball remains continuously and is going to its third CIF Southern Section Open Division Championship game over the years.
Trailblazers defeated Matter Dei 81-61 on Saturday night, with a mission league champion and Trinity League champion against each other in a matchup.
“It is playing with this team,” said Trailblazer Senior and McDonald’s All-American Mechanley Randolf. ” “This is our last year, so we are trying to go all the way.”
Sierra is looking for the Canian back-to-back open division title and will play Etiwanda in the championship game at Cal Baptist University on Friday, 23 February. Etiwanda defeated the trailblazer in the final in 2022.
Sierra Canian coach Alicia Komaki said, “Over the years, I would say it doesn’t matter (whom we play).” “But we have clearly made ourselves into a rivalry.”
Randolf scored a game-high 28 points for Sierra Canian and Jerzy Robinson was not far behind with 21 points. Izela Arenas scored 14 points after not getting a single basket in the first quarter.
Mater Dei had 16 points of Checity Rice, Jensa Cotton had 14 points and Amaya Williams left in 13 points.
Sierra Canian saw her initial lead slip through the first quarter when Williams made a mid-range jumper and gave Mater Day a 10-8 lead with a 3-pointer.
The trailblazer was able to tie the game twice in the last three minutes of this period, but Metter Dei went on a five-digit scoring for a benefit of 17–12 at the end of the first quarter.
Arenas hit a corner 3-populator within the first two minutes of the second frame and tied the game on 21-all with a paste with another 3 and a six-minute mark.
A midrange jumper by Robinson put the trailblazer back to the lead.
“He is one of the best scorers in the country,” Komaki said about Arenas. “There is never a conversation with our children,” Okay you will do this. ” We have allowed them to play. ,
Trailblazers snatched away defensive rebels to limit the opportunity to the second opportunity of Mater Dei as the crime gradually came into life after an early quarter in which shots were not falling. Sierra Canian defeated Orangewood Academy and SEZ Hill before winning the Matan Dei.
