Shots fired outside Brushfork Armory after basketball game

People inside the arsenal were placed under a shelter and they were not injured.

A Summers County School lesson list message said, “The local police took control of the situation and everyone was safe.”

Teams and fans were allowed to release after the parking lot was safe.

The Mercer County Sheriff Department is investigating changes and bullets.

Super Superintendent of Mercer County School Ed Toman posted the following message:


“We are angry with violence and shooting and shooting tonight in the Brush Fork Armary Parking after the High School Boys Basketball Athletic Game between Bluefield High and Summers County High Schools. This incident had nothing to do with our school system, our students or the specific incident of tonight; However, a group of individuals brought their issues into a feature and youth event that should always be safe for all. We greatly appreciate our local law enforcement, first responders and desire to the respondents and administration to provide immediate response and assistance. I am confident that justice will be given to persons calling on fear and loss in our community. Please know that we will do everything in our power to keep our students, employees, families and fans safe and this method of this method will not be tolerated. ,
