Washington (AP) – National Archives Building and Gallery were evacuated on Wednesday afternoon after dumping red powder on protective case around the US Constitution.
According to the National Archives, the incident occurred around 2:30 pm. There was no harm to the constitution itself.
A video posted on the X social media platform features two people who are covered in radish-pink powder, which are equally stretched in front of the splatter horizontal glass case, which are in the constitution.
“We are firm for a rebellion,” a man says. “We all deserve clean air, water, food and a lustable climate.”
The police then removed the pair.
“National Archives Rotunda is a sanctuary for the founding documents of our country. They are here for all Americans to see and understand our nation’s principles,” Cholon Shogan said in a statement. “We take this kind of vandalism very seriously and we will insist and say that criminals should be prosecuted to the entire extent of law.”
The building is expected to be open on Thursday.
