Pompean Beach, Fla. (WSVN) – Prosecutors have abandoned all allegations against a family accused of a high profile hatred crime that had been tied in courts for years.
Three family members, including parents and their son, asked to represent themselves in court in December 2022.
Yaven Makaran, his wife Inna, and his son Oleh were accused of trying to kill a gay person who was romantically involved with his youngest son.
The person was attacked in a Pompean Beach apartment on August 2020, causing the victim to blind.
The prosecutors said that when the crime was committed, there was not enough evidence to keep the family on the spot and go for testing.
