Port-Au-Prince, Haiti (AP)-Police in Haiti immediately appealed for help on Saturday night, as they were struggling to try to storm the country’s main prison in the country’s main prison to grow up with disturbing Caribbean nation.
A union representing the Higeen Police, in a message posted on social media, repeated the “SOS” emoji eight times. “Let’s mobilize the army and police to stop the bandits from breaking in jail.”
A police officer told the associated press that the gang had overwhelmed the security forces, but was not yet under the control of the jail, where several gang leaders were being kept. The officer spoke on the condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to the media.
Armed clashes follow a link to violent protests that have been constructed for some time, but have become fatal in recent times as Prime Minister Ariel Henry was supported by the East African country and by the United Nations to rescue a proposed security mission in Haiti near Henry Kenya and by the United Nations.
Henry took over as Prime Minister after the 2021 assassination of President Jeanle Moise and repeatedly postponed the plan to hold parliamentary and presidential elections, which did not happen in almost a decade.
As part of the coordinated attacks by the gangs, four police officers died on Thursday in the capital when gunmen set fire to targets including Haiti’s International Airport. The gang members also seized control over two police stations, forcing citizens to escape and closure businesses and schools.
The target peninsula by the gang is notorious for its extremely crowded and unhealthy situations. Its high-profile prisoners are many gang leaders and 18 former Colombian soldiers who are accused in the murder of Mose.
As a result of violence at the airport, the US Embassy in Port-and-Prines stated that it was temporarily stopping Haiti’s all official visit.
Haiti’s national police have around 9,000 officers to provide protection for more than 11 million people, according to the United Nations, officers are regularly overwhelmed and excluded by powerful gangs, which is estimated to be controlled up to 80% of Port-A-Prince.
Jimmy Cherizer, a former elite police officer, known as Barbecue, who now runs a gang federation, claimed responsibility for the increase in attacks. He said that Lakshya Haiti’s police chief and government ministers were to capture and stop Henry’s return.
The Prime Minister, a neurosurgeon, has stopped the call for his resignation and did not comment on being asked if he felt that he was safe to return home.
He signed mutual agreements on Friday with Kenai President William Ruto and tried to resolve the plan to deploy Haiti to the Kenai police. The High Court of Kenya ruled in January that the proposed deployment was unconstitutional, as the original deal lacked mutual agreements between the two countries.
Violence has made complex efforts to stabilize Haiti and pave the way for elections. Caribbean leaders said on Wednesday that Henry had agreed to schedule a vote by mid-2012-a distant date to further ange the opponents of Henry.
