Since Friday, new rules are applying in Wake County Schools to keep people safe in school programs.
This is the first day for the district’s new clear bag rules for the audience in the game and other large -scale meetings for Wake High Schools.
The clear bag rule is intended to prevent people from bringing knives or other weapons to plays or sports events or other curricular activities.
For the students or parents coming to the basketball game of Friday night, what new rule looks in practice here:
- No traditional purse or bag. The bag should be clear.
- People and bags will be discovered on entry.
- The wrist and diaper bags will still be allowed.
- Guests can also bring bags that are medically required – such as containers or an oxygen tank for menstrual products.
- Some children can also be made exceptions for carriers, coats, blankets and seat cushions.
- People are otherwise limited to a clear bag that is 12 inches to 15 inches to 3 inches and a clutch or wristlet bag that does not exceed 4 inches to 6 inches.
- There is no more backpack or belt bag until they are small and clear.
- The rule applies only to additional events with viewers and not regular school days.
Wral Education Insider, Emily WACKENHORST says that the district can adjust to the rule.
“Originally, what they are doing at the level of the school system, they are going to do so for 30 days, and then they are going to try to see if there were any challenges,” he said.
This rule does not apply only to sports events. It is a band concert or any school activity such as the theater production.
