Officials offer few details about death of state employee in Annapolis office building

State officials are releasing some details about the death of a state employee inside the office building of a state government in Annapolis 10 days ago.

Police and emergency medical staff were invited to the Atman-Glazer Building at 45 Calvert Saint in Annapolis for an employee report, which was found dead.

Assistant Secretary, General Services Department, Johnathan Medalock confirmed in an email that an employee of the agency “deceased was found” in the building between 2 pm on February 9 between 2 pm.

Medalock raised questions about the incident to Maryland State Police, who are handling the investigation.

In an email statement, a spokesman of the state police, Ron Sineider, confirmed that the Maryland Capital Police was called to the Calvert Street Building for a reported person report. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced individual deceased. ,

The snider did not release the name or age of the person in his email and did not give any details on where or how they were found.

“Maryland Capital Police officials requested the assistance of the Maryland State Police, who took control of the investigation,” the snider wrote in his email.

The snider wrote, “The cause and method of death pending the results of a corpse examination by the Chief Medical Examiner’s office,” Police said: “Police do not believe that there is a threat to the public.”

The building where the incident occurred is about three blocks from Maryland State House and is close to a handful of other states and Anne Arundel County Government buildings. It is home to the Maryland office of budget and management including the office suite used by Budget Secretary Helen Gradi.


In addition, the building has the Department of Service and Civil Innovation, the agency built last year to lead its signature service program by the village Wes Moore; Office of Maryland State Ethics Commission; Evaluation and taxation for Anne Arundel County; And Public Employees Relations Board. Neither the medalock nor the snider report will answer specific questions about the death. It is unknown where the person died or who made an initial discovery. In an email sent to the department of general service employees on the day of the incident, Secretary Atif Chaudhary announced the death of the state worker, but did not name him.
