Dekalb – Niu women had a chance, if everything went right, to jump into a tie for the fourth place in Mac Standing.
Instead, Hakis is still in seventh place by a game after a loss of 82-73 to bowling Green on Saturday.
“I mean, all of them are very correct? But … It is a team ahead of us in the standing,” said NIU coach Lisa Carlsen. “There is a lot of movement every Wednesday, every Saturday. Unfortunately, it is moving a tough forward for us. But we are not going to pay attention to it. Many teams are fighting to go to Cleveland.
Hakis (13–13, 6-8) entered the seventh position at the Central American conference on Saturday, in which the top eight teams visited the conference tournament. Falcons (14–11, 8-6) remain in a fourth place with Buffalo, who also won on Saturday.
NIU was growing in Saturday’s game, winning four of his last five. The last two of them were also on the road.
Falcons led to 33:56 of the game, including the last 14 minutes. Haskis tied things on a Brooke Stonbreaker Bucket, but a 3-pointer of Morgan Sharps placed Falcons with 46–43 in the third with 6:00 in the third, a lead that would grow to 76-63 with 2:36.
Huskis did not give more than 80 marks in a conference game this year.
“His crime is just different,” Carlson said about the bowling Green, who defeated NIU 72-54 on 31 January in Ohio. “They can score at all three levels and they can actually get a downhill. This probably causes us more problems than the set of other teams. ,
The Stonbreaker ended with 13 points and nine rebels, leading to a line of three straight doubles. Sydney McCre was 13 for NIU and Jayden Marable led Hakis with 15 points.
NIU led the time of the game less than five minutes and never more than five. After shooting 50% in the first half, Hakis made just 5 -15 shots in the third quarter. Falcons also shot 33.3% in the third but shot 8 for 10 in the fourth from both line and floor.
“It was like the top and bottom,” Stonbreker said about the protecting the Hakis. “But we need to conquer that cruelty fight, and it was closed tonight.”
Amy Velasco put a career-servation 32 for Falcons. He was an average of 15 points per game on Saturday.
“Velasco is really good at being downhill, especially in the second half,” McCre said. “I don’t think we did a great job on it. Many times we missed the interval, because in the end defense is a team’s attempt, it takes all five players to the floor.”
