No infection has been reported in Michigan, but several salad kits have been recalled due to the possible links of Listeria contamination. Half a dozen kits sold by Dole were called back and a brands by Marketside and President’s choice.

On 5 February, Rizo-Lopez Foods, Ink recalled dairy products, including cuseo Fresco, Kotija, Oxaca, Panla, and Rekota cheese, which were among many others, who were distributed nationwide. Some remembered items were sold in the Hole Foods Market.
Other products included Tio Francisco, Don Francisco, Rizo Bros, Rio Grande, Food City, L. Hache, La Ordenena, San Carlos, Campsino, Santa Maria, DOS Ranchitos, Casa Cardens and 365 Hole Food Market, other products according to CDC.
Rizo-Lopezfoods, Inc. Has only recalled cheese, cream and yogurt, but many products such as salads/ salad kits, tacos/ taco kits, Bartitos, Anchiladus, sandwich, dressing, sauce and dips can also contain items.
What is Listeria?
Listeria is a life-threatening infection caused by eating contaminated food with bacterial listeria monocytozens.
The infection is the most harmful to pregnant people as it can cause pregnancy loss, premature birth or newborn infection. People aged 65 years or older or people who have weakened the immune system are also at risk of hospitalization.
General symptoms of listeria
Symptoms of listeria include fever, muscle pain, fatigue, headache, hard neck, confusion, balance or loss of recovery. People who are pregnant may experience fever, muscle pain or fatigue.
Symptoms usually start within 2 weeks of eating contaminated food, but can also occur on the same day. In some cases, symptoms may appear only 10 weeks after eating contaminated food.
