After a 50 -year career in public service, which started at the age of 16, Ralph Czerwinski will step down on 1 July as an administrator of the village of Morton Grove, nearly nine years later.

“This is with mixed feelings,” Czerwinski said. “The job is fantastic. I love it. But I have two families. It has children and grandchildren. The other one is here in a village. ,

The Village Board immediately began a discovery for Czerwinski’s successor on 13 February, approved a contract with MGT, MGT of LLC for Executive Recruitment Services.

Village president Dan Dimaria said he was disappointed, but was not surprised to see Czerwinski retiring.

“He has gas in the tank, but he does not want to work until he can do it.” “There is a time in everyone’s employment life which is enough, it is enough. He served us well. He served Skoki well. He wants to spend time with his grandson. He wants to enjoy the fruits of his service. ,

Czerwinski said he started his career in the municipal government during high school and college in Niles village, where he worked in the Public Works Department and later became an engineering technician.

In 1975, he said, he became a fire fighter in Morton Grove and did his work for the rank for the chief in 1990. Czerwinski said he held the post until 2003, when he served as a village administrator by 2005.

He said that he left the situation to become a fire chief in Scoki, where he stayed in 2015 as a village administrator at Morton Grove.

“They were all positive experiences,” Czerwinski said. “Infections were great. Niles and Morton Grove’s village in the village of Niles and Morton Grove, and the experience in Scoki gave me an opportunity to become a solid village administrator when he returned in 2015. ,

Dimaria compared Czerwinski to a coach of a professional sports team, describing his achievements.

“It takes a team,” he said. “I am a general manager; He is a coach. Whatever you have seen is a team effort under Ralph’s leadership. At the village staffing level, I have to tell them what I want to do. I must have someone to execute the plan, and Ralph was the man. ,

Dimria said that the achievements of Czerwinski were successful development of the Sawmill Station Shopping Center and the restaurant and pizzeria of Morei were attracted in the village.

“He was a team leader,” he said. “He will definitely miss, but we have to move forward and keep going.”

Czerwinski said he was giving a formal notice of about six months to the village.

“It will give enough time to find someone, either internal or external,” he said. “The search process will proceed.”

Neither Dimaria nor Czerwinski were ready to estimate whether former community development administrator Zoe Heidorn, who was recently promoted as Assistant Village Manager, would apply for the job.

“This would be a personal decision for him,” Czerwinski said. “All employees have the opportunity to apply. Zo did a great job in economic development. He helped in our communication in the village. He is very positive light. He is certainly entitled to the opportunity to be in that type and does not focus only on economic development. ,

Heidorn replied to a “no comment” a question whether she would apply for the situation.
