A Metra train derailed near the city Crystal Lake on Saturday morning.
A Metra spokesperson confirmed the derailment and said there was no report of injuries. The train released the tracks on the route 176 overpass on walk -up Avenue.
All trains on Metra on the Northwest line which were bound to Woodstock and Harvard are ending at Crystal Lake due to derailment. Passengers trying to catch trains at those stations were encouraged to search for alternative transport.
An inbound train that was scheduled to release Crystal Lake at 10 am and reached Chicago at 11:23 pm, which did not run due to derailment.
Another train, which is scheduled to leave the Crystal Lake at 3 pm and reaches Chicago at 4:23 pm, that too did not run due to derailment.
A Metra spokesperson said at around 5 pm that the locomotive derailed was rebuilt, but the officials were assessing the damage to the tracks.
