Memorial created at intersection where mother was killed after being struck by dump truck in Miami – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Miami (WSVN) – A memorial was built at a intersection in Miami, where a woman was killed by a dump truck, when she was pushing her child into a stroller.

7news cameras on Thursday captured the memorial in Northeast 22 Street and Biscan Bulleward, where a single flower stood between the remaining crime scene tape which remained.

The truck killed the young mother at around 1 pm on Wednesday.

Melissa Gardner, a member of a local mother group, was destroyed to hear about the tragedy of 33 -year -old Zaklin Sabag.

“This could have been either of us and it is a heartbreaking. The heart -wrenching,” said Gardner. “So we are all going to gather here.”

According to the Miami police, Sabag was pushing his son’s stroller, crossed the road between cars and the pedestrians were not on the crosswalk when the truck was killed.

Miami police officer Michael Vega said, “Not only did she cross in front of her, but when she reached the double yellow lines, she really stopped to see the traffic going to north, to make sure that she would not be a hit, to find out that she is standing in front of this big truck, which would not see her,” said the police officer of Miami.

The truck driver, the detectives said, “did not travel above five miles in an hour and did not know that he had run over anyone. Sabag was pinned under the truck.

Officials saw the accident monitoring video.

Detectives said the truck driver stopped and cooperated in the investigation.

“When the man saw it, he just put his hands there, and as he did not know how to react,” Juan Camillo Giron said, a witness. “Like, he was not sure about what was going on, the way he was just walking and was coming in like this.”

Many people from the area reached the spot and were able to catch the child until they were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Despite the damage to the stroller, the child is expected to recover.

On Wednesday, 7news spoke with a family friend, who said that Sabag was amazing and was loved.

Gardner told 7news that many mothers of the local group will meet at the intersection at 5:30 pm

The incident remains under investigation.
