Passengers on a delta air lines flight were shocked with magots with an overhead bin on Tuesday, when a fellow passenger brought the rotting fish in his carry-on luggage, according to several positions on X, which was previously known as Twitter.
The flight was led to Detroit from Amsterdam when the aircraft was forced to turn almost an hour after departure. Passenger Philip Shotte told WJBK-TV in Detroit that she saw a woman in the corridor “trying to fight these magots.” He initially thought that this is a “mischief”.
“I really don’t know what was happening to my mind. I was trying to process it – hatred,” said Shote.
Flight attendants tracked Bugs into an overhead compartment, they were found to be a rotting fish wrapped in a newspaper inside one of the bags.
Shote told the station, “I saw everyone’s response when the bag was opened, which was an immediate nose pinch.”
The airline confirmed the incident in flight DL 133 in a statement by NBC News, stating that the bag was not packed properly.
“We apologize to the customers of Flight 133 on 13 February. Because his journey was improperly obstructed by a packed carry-on bag,” said Delta. “The aircraft returned to the gate and customers were placed on the next available flight. The aircraft was removed from service for cleaning.”
According to flight tracking site flightware, Udaan left Amsterdam local time at 10:11 pm and returned to the same airport in less than two hours in the afternoon.
Aviation news site Aariva reported that the carry-on bag was placed in another bag and burnt.
