Miami Beach, Fla. (WSVN) – Miami Beach is breaking with a spring break.
The city’s mayor on Thursday described how they are planning to do before the busy month of March.
“We welcome everyone to come to our city,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steve Mener.
Mayner said that the message of the city is that everyone welcomes to have fun, but if you want to create trouble, it is going to be difficult to do it and get away with it.
Over the years, Spring Break has left Miami Beach with shooting, stamped and all-around bad behavior.
“We have tried hard to reduce some issues of spring brakes. People are shooting and killing,” said Miami Beach police chief Wen Jones.
The city said that their goal for spring breakers this year is to maintain peace.
During the month of March, the use of the beach with a safety check to enter the sand will be limited. After 6 pm, the traffic pattern will change to reduce traffic going south of Fifth Street. The rope fee for non-residents will double from $ 516.
The city stated that during the two busiest weekends in March, the parking fee would increase to a flat rate of $ 100, the pavement cafes with an ocean drives will be closed, the lane on the east on the McArther and the license plates will be the readers in the Julia Tutle Causeways, and there will be a Dui checkpoint with 400 blocks of the fifth street.
“Reasons during the evening hours will be long and slow,” Jones said.
Fare services for low -speed vehicles, scooters, mopeds, motorcycles and slingshots will be suspended from operation.
“Come here, enjoy, but don’t come here in search of trouble. We had enough,” said Mener.
The city said enforcement and rope will also be increased around residential areas.
A free citywide trolley will be available on the weekend of 8 and 15 March in the weekend of 8 and 15 March for those going across the city.
