Leaking underground propane tank found at Virginia home before deadly house explosion – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Sterling, va. (AP)-When the firefighters arrived at a house in Washington, DC, the suburb to examine a report about the smell of gas on Friday night, he discovered the 500-Gallon underground propane tank with a leak on the side of the residence.

He was identified as 45 -year -old Trevor Brown, a volunteer of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company. Johnson said Brown had married three children and was with county firefighting services since 2016.

“We lose a family member,” Johnson said on Saturday. “We have lost one of our own. We are very clearly lucky that we have only one fatal. Our people were in the house when the explosion occurred. They did what they had to do.”

Johnson said the investigators have not determined the cause of the explosion, but “we could assume that it was propained.” He said that the 500-minal tank located outside the house had leaked fuel in the house.

Two people were thrown out inside the house before the explosion and the explosion caused only minor injuries. Johnson said he was treated in local hospitals.


He said that the firefighters who responded to check the smell of gas went inside the house to investigate the residents and try to reduce any leaks. A dangerous material team was also called to the scene.

Johnson said the explosion occurred at around 8:25 pm after about 37 minutes of the firefighters. He said that after the explosion, there were several days of May for firefighters trapped in the house. Johnson said that all firefighters were getting care and care till 9:15 pm.

“It was somewhat chaotic because we tried to find out how many firefighters were trapped under the rubble,” he said.

James Williams, assistant head of operation, described the disadvantage of the house as a “total devastation” in sterling.

He said, “There is a debris ground on the road and in neighboring houses.”

Sterling Washington is located about 22 miles (35 km) in North -West of DC

A neighbor, John Padgate, told ABC7 News that he had earlier smelled a gas while walking his dog.

The explosion shook his house, he said.

He said, “It looked like an incarno,” and the insulation fell from the burning house like Ash. “It was frightening; it looked like a battle region.”

Brown’s body was taken to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and method of death.
