The Commissioner of Lawrence City will consider the requests of a developer to recreate the land in the south -east of the Iowa Street Interchange with the Cances Highway 10 for the project known as New Boston Crossing on Tuesday.
The plan for the development of mixed-utilization of about 177 acres of the city in the south includes a single-family house, townhouse or rohaouse, and multideling residential units. It also includes an entertainment district in the middle and some green place and a large pond on the southeast side.

The city commissioners will consider eight resoning requests for different parts of the project.
The Lawrence-Dugglas County Planning Commission voted on each item during its January 24 meeting. According to the agenda, he voted 7–1 to approve two of the two resoning items, but gave 4–4 votes on the other six, “which failure to recommend approval,” according to the agenda.
On those six tie goods, at least four members of the Lawrence City Commission will have to vote in favor to approve them; Planning Commissioners on two goods recommended for approval, a simple 3-2 majority vote from the city commissioners will approve them, but they will require 4–1 votes to deny them.
The project has made a good deal of public interest. Many people have spoken to protest against the project as the land part is located on the flooding, and has raised environmental concerns about the proposal. Others have spoken in favor of the project, which aims to include the new housing, although opponents have denied that the houses in the $ 300,000 range will not be cheap for those who are experiencing housing insecurity.
Other people have expressed concern about those and groups that have not been consulted in relation to the project.

City staff members are recommending that the Commission approve all eight rebirth requests.
Last month, the city commissioners approved a comprehensive plan amendment related to the project on 4–1 votes.

Commissioner Lisa Larsen said at the time that he feels that it is a great project, but a wrong place. She said that she did not think that it was good to build a flooding to build it, and she could not support it.
The amendment was eventually rejected by the Douglas County Commissioners, but their refusal did not prevent the project from the proceedings.
The Commissioners will also pronounce an update on the Farmland Remediation Project, which will consider a $ 87,400 supplementary contract with GHD Services Inc., which “will provide the city with technical services required for the implementation of revised therapeutic options that provide a long -term profitable use For the site, “according to the agenda.
As part of their consent agenda – a list of items that are considered regular and usually approved with one vote – Commissioner Tocopila will consider becoming a city with Chile. If approved, Tocopila will join Utin, Germany; Hirsuka, Japan; And INIADES, Greece, Lawrence’s sister as cities.
