A jury will not be indexed during the upcoming trial for a Lawrence Kishore for the death of a Lawrence boy, Douglas County’s District Court Judge Sally Pokarney ruled on Friday.

18 -year -old Deric D. Reid has been designed for 14-degree murder, which is 14 years old in connection with the death of Qamarjay Shaw.

During a pretense hearing on Friday, Pocori addressed several movements filed by Defense Attorney Mark Hartman and Chief Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Tatam.

During the test, the members of the jury were requested by Heartman to sequence, which means they will temporarily stay in a hotel and make limited contact with others.

He referred to high stress during Reid’s first adequate court hearing on 2 June, when at least 20 officers were called to break out the threats of violence outside after dismissing the people of Pocori from the court.

But Pocorney said that in the last 40 years, gamblers have been ignored in Douglas County. And he said that no similar threat has been given since the hearing of June 2.

Hartman argued that a test compared to the initial hearing is like “Super Bowl of Court proceedings”. He said that security gives overweight to concerns, he said. Tatam said that while limiting the jury pool, the sequence for many groups of people will not work.

The case has been largely covered in the local media, which can present challenges in search of gamblers who have not formed an opinion about the case.

Pocorney said that the court would refrain from using the names of gamblers during the trial and assure them that their personal information would be kept as confidential as confidential, but the gamblers would not be asked to be fully indexed.

Pocorney also ruled that during the jury test, he would visit the crime site in 1300 blocks of Maple Street. Hartman and Tatam said they would work together to exclude logistics for that journey.

Kamarjay Shaw and his mother

Hartman also brought rules on the dress inside the court room. People participating in the test will not be allowed to wear clothes or bring signage that reflects Reed or Kamarjay’s support. Pocorney said that a notice would be posted at the door of his court room, and people would be asked to change or change their clothes.

The shooting took place on March 18, 2023 in Lawrence. At the time of shooting, Reid was 17 years old, but Pocorney earlier ruled that he would be tried as an adult and will not be given immune from the prosecution. (In this article, during that hearing read more information than witness testimony.)

During the August 14 hearing, Hartman called an expert from KBI to testify about the gunshot residue test. The actual results of the test were not shared then, but Tatam said during a sept 1 that there was a report of Pocorni that indicated that the reed had gunshots residues on the steering wheel of the hand and her vehicle.

The test was earlier postponed for the current scheduled date, while the firearm evidence was being reviewed.

James Taber, KBI Forensic Scientist, on Friday testified about the primer gunshot residue (PGSR) analysis, which he completed for the state case against Reid. Tatam and Hartman asked Taber’s questions to determine the reliability of PGSR analysis as scientific data, and Pocorney ruled the PGSR test, as part of the test evidence.

Additionally, Hartman filed a proposal to accept a picture posted on Instagram as evidence that he said that Qamarjay showed the gun holding the gun. He also requested that he be able to discuss the teenage allegations, not punishment, which was with Kamarjay.

Tatam said that the photo is not related to this case and “The existence of this photo is not the kind of evidence that allows the Kansas court.” He said that it shows no date or time or where it was actually posted, there is no evidence if Reid knew about the photo, and in the photo the person could not be fully identified as Kamarjay, he said.

He also argued that Qamarjay was not convicted for discussing the allegations, and did not include the reed, potentially a jury.

Eventually, both sides opted to table the proposal to review the written denial of the prosecution and register a written response themselves. They will join again on Thursday at 9 am, 9 am on Thursday, 22 February to solve this issue. The hearing will be on the zoom, and Hartman estimated that it should not exceed 30 minutes.

The jury trial is scheduled for Monday, 4-8 March and Monday and Tuesday, 11-12 March. The court will start at 9 am every day, which will be the 111 E11 in the Division 2 court room at the judicial and law enforcement center in the Lawrence.

However, Pocorney is considering conducting the first two days of testing at the Douglas County Fairground to carry out the jury selection process due to concerns about the spread of Kovid -19. He said that he could work with a panel of 60 potential gamblers on Monday and another 60 on Tuesday.

In criminal cases all arrests and defendants should not be convicted until they are convicted.
