Jerusalem (AP) – Israel’s Foreign Minister said on Monday that the Brazilian President will not be welcomed in Israel until he apologizes for the comments when he compared the Israeli war with Holocaust in Gaza, accusing him to “very serious anti -attack”.
On Sunday, President Luiz Inecio Lula da Silva said that “Gaza strip and Palestinians have not been seen in any other moment in history. Actually, this happened when Hitler decided to kill the Jews. Lula commented while talking to reporters at the African Union Summit in Ethiopia.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz on Monday called the Brazilian ambassador to the National Holocaust Museum in Israel for a reprimand.
“Lula said when he compared the righteous war of the Israel state against Hamas, who killed and massacred the Jews, and Hitler and Nazis are shameful and unacceptable,” said Katz.
Following Israel’s reaction to Lula’s comments, Brazil on Monday recalled the country’s ambassador to Israel, Fredericko Mayor for consultation.
Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Viera also called Israeli Ambassador Daniel Zonshin “in the light of the seriousness of this morning by the Israeli government,” according to a statement from his ministry, “Israeli Ambassador to Dansi Zonshin.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Lula’s comments “despise Holocaust” and “crossed a red line”.
Such comments attacked a raw nerve in Israel, a country that was established as a shelter for the Jews in view of the Holocaust. Israel says that its war in Gaza, in response to a deadly Hamas attack on 7 October, is defensive and rejects any comparison of its aggressive for Holocaust.
At the African Union Summit on Saturday after Lula’s comments, leaders condemned the aggressive Israeli in Gaza and called for its immediate end.
In the 7 October attack, Hamas militants led to a storm in southern Israel and killed around 1,200 people, mostly taken to citizens, and about 250 hostage. Terrorists still capture about 130 hostages, one of them is considered dead in fourth place. Most of the others were released during a week’s ceasefire in November.
According to the Ministry of Health at Hamas-Shaded Gaza, the war has killed at least 29,092 Palestinians, most women and children, who do not distinguish between citizens and fighters. About 80% of the population of Gaza is run from their homes, and a quarter is facial starvation.
Heavy death tolls and widespread damage caused the growing criticism of Israel and increasing calls for ceasefire.
Former Foreign Affairs Minister and Lula, a special advisor from Lula, told the local news outlet G1 that Israel’s response was “absurd”.
“It only increases the separation of Israel. Lula is sought after the whole world and at this time it is Israel that (personality) is non -Greta, ”said Amorim.
Brazilian President Mahal did not immediately respond to the remarks requests.
Lula’s wife, First Lady Rosengela da Silva said that she was proud to protect her husband and defend the right to life for women and children. “The speech refers to the massacre government and not the Jewish people, let’s be honest in our analysis,” he said.
“Netanyahu should be worried about the rejection that he produces in the world and in his country, before he tries to reprimand anyone who reflects his policy to drive away the Palestinian people. Gleei Hoffman, president of Lula’s Workers Party, told Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper that he had no moral or political rights to pointing a finger on anyone.
Last week, Lula met Prime Minister Mohammad Shatayeh, Prime Minister of Lula Palestinian Authority before attending the African Union Summit in Ethiopia’s capital Adis Ababa.
After the meeting, Brazilian President Mahal said: “Lula condemned Hamas attacks against Israeli citizens, indicated an agreement with a ceasefire requirement and repeated the Brazilian government’s commitment for a two-state solution-with a economically viable Palestinian kingdom, with Israel, with Israel, peace and safety, habiting in peace and safety.”
