Husband of late NC State student charged with her murder could take the stand Friday

The defendant accused of killing his wife, who was a student at North Carolina State University, could soon take a stand on Friday.

Seven days were marked on Thursday in a test related to Christina Matos’s death of April 2021. She was 20 years old.

Eric Hernandez-Mendez is accused of murder. If convicted, Hernandez-Mendez will have to face life in jail without parole.

On Thursday, some new pieces of evidence were revealed, including a volgrain receipt for chlorox wipes and bleach.

The court played a video, which was the Rale police with Hernandez-Mendease, exactly five days after Matos disappeared in 2021.

Authorities found Matos signature with Hillsboro Street in Rale on 4 April 2021 inside their apartments in 1505. Matos’s body examination revealed that he was stabbed 16 times in his apartment.

Hernandez-Mendez and Matos were married on March 29, 2021.

In the video, Hernandez-Mendez showed very little emotion when the detective says that his wife has died only five days.

Hernandez-Mendez repeatedly refused to kill Matos in the video.

A separate video was also played from within Signature 1505. A detective asked Hernandez-Himdez what was inside the bag inside the apartment.

“I bought detergent and chlorox,” he said in the video.

In the video, a rale police detective said that a solution used to detect blood in the apartment was a very important clue.

A police detective told Hernandez Mendez in the video, “A blood mark from Christina’s room went straight to your room and no one else,” [Is there] Do you need to tell me something? ,

Hernandez-Mendez said in the video, “I really don’t have the answer.” “I don’t know.

“I will never harm [anyone],

The defense pierced the Rale police interview. The defense believes that the roommate of Matos and Hernandez-Mendez, Cali Lynch-Firikano could also kill Matos. Lynch-Firikano is accused of accessory after this fact and interruption of justice.

Rale police detective Willber O’Neel said in the court on Thursday, “I don’t believe that there is a super secret, dark ninja at night who did it at night.”

A detective also questioned why the knife was missing from the butcher block. Hernandez-Mendez said he did not know.
