A major disaster announcement was made by President Biden after the storms in late August last year.
FEMA Media Relations expert Leyla Gulenn said that by March 1, more than $ 1 million has been distributed in five-count area for temporary housing and cleaning the cleaning supply, childcare, storage, medical and dental expenses is another $ 72,000 for cleaning.
“In the first month, when the President approved the disaster in West Virginia, we are very proud to report and pleased that we have put more than $ 1 million in the hands of the remaining people,” said Gulelam.
FEMA teams have also completed 104 dangerous mitigation, 300 domestic inspections, and have knocked on about 2,800 doors in the five-corner area.
Disaster recovery centers in each county are open from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, which can also help by calling 800-621-3362 (FEMA), and claims can also be presented online.
Gulenn said, “We have set up disaster recovery centers in three different places and mobile disaster recovery centers in three additional places, and we are trying to meet those where they are,” Gulenn said.
FEMA has provided several ways to submit the claim, but the deadline is about 30 days away. Residents can appeal for FEMA decisions within 60 days of the date on the assessment letter.
Gulenn said, “We have come a time limit on 1 April, so with a month, we know how fast goes, and we don’t want to leave anyone behind.”
Residents who claim online or individuals should provide maximum documentation, which includes pictures when available. Gulenn said that it is especially important for FEMA teams that the evidence of any rejection has been obtained from an insurance company to the owner of a property.
“The receipts, any repair you have, have receipts for you, bring them with them because it is going to help determine what kind of assistance we can provide,” Gulenn said.
Gulenn said that some people who have already filed claims will listen to a FEMA representative or welcome to call a toll free number.
“If you have already submitted your application, you will not lag behind,” said Gulenn. “You have already started the process and we are going here with you until this process is complete, whether it is in a person or on the phone.”
