Dolton trustees call for outside probe of mayor, say she misused funds

Some Dolton Trustees are calling for an external examination at Mayor Tiffany Henyard, accusing him of misusing the village money and being in a multi-dollar deficit.

They are asking agencies such as the FBI, US Attorney, Cook County Sheriff and Cook County State Attorney Kadam and investigating Henard.

The four trustees who are with Henyard – Kina Belty, Tammy Brown, Jason House and Brittany Norwood held a special village board meeting on Tuesday at the facility of a village park district.

The crowd of some 100 residents stood up and was appreciated after the proposal for investigation.

“We are taking this stand on the back of 21,000 people who are being affected by this,” Belty said after the vote.

Some trustees stated that action was needed to save Dolton, and the House described it as a “final stand”.

“It was not a solution taken lightly. This is the last solution, ”the house said. “It was something that is well thought out.”

The next village board meeting is March 4, and it is possible that the Henyard will end the resolution. If this happens, the house said, four trustees will vote to override his veto.

Four trustees have earlier called special meetings to handle the trade, such as approve the minutes of the village board meeting, as Henyard has stopped taking them into regular meetings.

Henyard did not participate in Tuesday’s meeting, nor two other trustees who are his colleagues in the board.
