Developer wants to build 224 units for senior living in DeKalb – Shaw Local

Dekalb-A dekalb developer wants to construct 224 units including single-family homes and townhomes on 35 acres along the Bethani Road for residents of 55 and older.

According to the city’s documents, the proposal will construct on the existing bridges of the revision residential community.

Under the proposal, about 10 to 20 units will be made per year. According to city documents, complete construction may take up to two decades.

City Staff said that it is in support of the scheme, saying that the development in the riversist neighborhood has slowed down since 2008.

The staff wrote in project documents, “A residential development is desired for 55 years and older and required in Dekalb.”

The request by Brian Gringer of Grinjar LLC is expected to go before Decalab’s Planning and Zoning Commission during his regular meeting, which has been scheduled for 6 pm on Monday in Decklab Public Library, 309 Oak Saint. The plan will also require the approval of Decalab City Council.

The public is invited to weigh the proposal in Monday’s meeting. The city has already received about 10 letters in response to the proposal, including eight in favor of eight and two against it, showing documents.
