Damage in Gracelak Middle School caused by severe winter season will take longer to repair than anticipated initially.
According to a press release from the community’s Integrated School District 46, now an emergency repair will be required, with an expected date of 26 April, an additional 12 weeks will take.
Students and employees should safely complete the repair before coming back to the premises, including fixing the unit ventilator, replacing all fire sprinkler, place of flooring in large gym and complete cleaning in all affected areas and installation of new floors.

In mid-January, an ice and snow storm, jointly with bottom temperature, suffered significant damage to the infrastructure of aging in the middle school premises. During that time, GMS students participated in e-learning.
According to experts experts in the district’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), the ventilation equipment in schools was designed to handle below-zero temperature for only 100 hours in only 100 hours a year.
Other school buildings in the district also caused damage, but no one is important like middle school.

On 17 January, the district learned students and employees will not be able to return to Gracelake Middle School.
In-Person Learning resumed the next day at the University Center of Lake County Campus, which is now known to students and employees as GMS East. The temporary campus is just two miles from the middle school.
Superintendent Lynn Glyticman said that the District University is lucky for access to the center. Glickman said that the plans of the alternative complex came together for community support.
“Our students, employees, family and community have really come together to ensure that teaching and learning continue while we are away from the middle school building,” he said.
The cost for repair is estimated at $ 2 million, of which almost all districts will be covered by insurance. Glickman said the district cut is $ 2,500.
“We feel very happy to insure strong, good,” he said.

According to school officials, many sellers are working with the district on school repair, which have already started. Work on gym floor replacement began, and the fire sprinkler replacement project is almost two-thirds.
Work was going on at the unit ventilator in the classrooms, but has been stopped due to delay in supply-series.
To prevent losses in future winter storms, Glyticman said that the district is soon planning to replace the old boiler.
Since starting at the university center, the students have accommodated in new classes and “are closed to learn,” he said. Adjustment in space is regularly required.
A week at the school in the GMS East, Glyticman learned that the campus was first scheduled to use as a test site for another school district. The plans for GMS students moved rapidly, and the students used features in the College of Lake County and Lake County Tech Campus.
“Both Tech Campus and CLC welcomed us, and really shifted to heaven and earth for us,” Glicman said.
He said that using college and high school complexes gave a unique opportunity to highlight middle school students for future educational opportunities.
Most of the after school activities and clubs have resumed at the university center. Other schools offerings have been replaced due to places available in GMS East.
Due to lack of space in the university center, band exercises for school programs are conducted in another district school in the morning. Students are again taken to the new campus.
There is also no gymnasium available in the temporary campus, so the middle school sports teams are practicing and participating in meat and games at various places including other CCSD 46 schools and Gresleck High School districts.
The formal physical education program of Gracelake Middle School has been currently distributed asynchronically.
“We continue to consider external locations available to identify ways to include as much physical activity as possible on our students’ days,” Glicman said.
