New york -Nuyorke (AP) -American, who conducted positive testing for Kovid -19, no longer needs to stay in isolation for five days, US health officials announced on Friday.
Disease control and prevention centers changed their long guidance, saying that people can return to work or regular activities if their symptoms are mild and improved and this is a day because they have fever.
This change comes at a time when Kovid -19 is no longer a public health threat which was once. It fell due to being the third major cause of death in epidemic last year.
Most people have some extent immune to coronavirus from previous vaccinations or infections. And many people are not following the five-day isolation guidance anyway, some experts say.
CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen said, “Our goal here is to continue those people for the risk of serious illness, while assuring people that these recommendations are simple, clear, easy to understand, and can be followed,” CDC Director Dr.. Mandy Cohen said.
However, some experts worry that changes may increase the risk of infection for older people and others who are more unsafe to get seriously ill.
Why are guidelines changing?
Covid-19 has not admitted to the same hospital as it was in the first years of the epidemic. Changes are an attempt to streamline recommendations, so they are similar to long recommendations for flu and other respiratory viruses. Officials say many people are not explaining with a flowing nose, cough or other symptoms whether it is Kovid -19, flu, or something else.
This may not be so tough, but the guidance emphasizes that the head of the health department of Cleveland, Dr. David Margolius said that all people with breath symptoms should stay at home.
When they conduct positive tests, people are still contagious, and it has not changed, Jennifer Nuzo, director of the Pandemic Center at the School of Public Health at Brown University.
“What has changed is that Kovid is harming us as a population,” Nuzo said.
Officials said some other countries and California and Oregon have reduced the separation guidance in the same way as the latest change of CDC – and did not see an increase in cases.
What are the new guidelines?
If you have symptoms, stay home until your symptoms are mild and improved and it is a day because you have fever. But then you can be cautious by wearing masks and keeping distance from others.
However, CDC guidance is the same for workers of nursing homes and other health care facilities. This involves a recommendation that medical workers stay at home at least seven days after the first symptoms appear, and that they perform negative tests within two days of returning to work.
The agency is emphasizing that everyone should still try to stop the infection in the first place, by vaccinating, wash their hands, and take steps to bring more external fresh air.
Is this change opposed?
Yes, and even some people who understand the logic of change have concerns.
“My biggest concern in all this is that the employer will take this change in guidance, which requires the employees to come back to work … before they are ready, before they feel quite well, and before they are not likely to harm their colleagues,” Nuzo said.
Covid-19 is particularly dangerous for older people and people with other medical conditions. According to CDC, more than 20,000 hospitals are hospitalized and over 2,000 deaths due to Koronwirus. Those 65 and older have hospitalized and mortality rates.
This week, the CDC stated that seniors should get another dose of updated Covid-19 vaccine.
Is this the first change for separation guidelines?
No, the CDC originally recommended 10 days of isolation, but at the end of 2021 it cut it for five days for Americans that catch Koronvirus and do not have any symptoms or only brief illnesses. Under the guidance for the general public, the separation ended only when a person became fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever and if other symptoms were being solved.
