Cougar attacks mountain bikers on Washington trail – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

(CNN) – At least one Kauggar stagged and then attacked a group of five mountain bikers on a footpath in Washington on Saturday, injuring a bicycle driver, saying wildlife officials.

The office of the King County Sheriff said in a statement that the cyclist managed to call the emergency services and killed the animal before a wildlife officer arrived and killed the animal, while another cougar ran away.

The attack took place around 12:30 pm on Saturday, said by wildlife officials.

Mountain Bikers reported staring and attacking in the forest with Tokul Creek, about 5 miles north of Snokvalmi, said the Sheriff Office.

“A biker (allegedly a 60 -year -old woman) suffered an injuries from one of the cats during the incident,” the statement continued. “The injured woman was admitted to the hospital with non-janleva injuries.”

Initial reports suggested that the cyclists used a bike to pin Kagar, the office of Sheriff said. KCSO depot, wildlife agents and medical personnel responded to their 911 calls.

Washington State Fish and Wildlife Police spokesman Becky Elder told CNN via email that an officer shot Kagar with a gun.

Elder said, “Fish and wildlife personnel removed a subtractor at the scene, it is considered over six months of age, although an accurate age will be determined by the authorities. Once the tooth data is taken from the cougar,” said Elder.

The department said in a news release that a “Hound Handler” was brought to track each other, stating that he had returned to the forest.

The animal was not found until Saturday evening.

“Public safety is our priority, usually during a human-weldalife incident we remove the deadly animal,” that Elder said.

But he said that the cougar attacks on humans are “extremely rare”.

“In the state of Washington, there have been two deadly cougar attacks and about 20 other recorded encounters have suffered human injuries in the last 100 years,” he said.
