A popular Chicago Botanical Garden at the Glencoe exhibition will close the crowd with its eccentric theme.
In its 10th year, the orchid show takes place from 10 am to 4 pm daily through March 24. This year’s orchid shows have more than 10,000 blooms, the show circus and carnival themed. After the hour orchids are on selected date from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Setting a theme for the orchid shows displays visitors that it changes every year and gives them a reason to return, Jodi Zombolo said, Associate Vice President of Visiting events and programs.
The orchid show of the miracle is different from this that he has done earlier, he said, and was kept completely together in the house by the Chicago botanical staff.
“It’s very fun and eccentric,” he said. “There are lots of educational components for an orchid and we always want to talk about that – rare, cultivated hybrids and orchids of the species are all about. It is part of the mission of the garden. ,
He said that garden employees and volunteers have integrated into a series of unique and colored blooms in a series of the themed props, including a ferris wheel, Hindola and unicycles on the titrop, while still making orchids the star of the show.
“They are the ones you get to ride, if you do, all props,” he said. “This is one of the most colorful and vibrant shows we have. And also imagine going into a lot of music – and you are taken back to your childhood to the circus and carnival and the tunes of those classic circuses, which you heard that you visit those people in your past and you are walking under a ferris wheel and looking at these beautiful, vibrant orchids looking at all those things. ,

When selected on Thursday and Friday evening, guests can participate in orchids after hours and experience the show at night. Cocktails and mocktails, as well as the theme foods such as cotton candy and funnel cakes will be available for purchase.
“This is your opportunity to see orchids at night, so we have a special lighting in the show,” she said. “We also have hours of photographers because it is one of the most photographed shows. They meet to bring their tripods and monopods, which we usually do not allow during the day. ,
Information about this can be found on the website, he said.
One of the most common questions he hears from the guests how to take care of orchids.
He said, “We have Master Mali Volunteers and they are happy to answer any question,” she said. “We also have an orchid marketplace on weekends with members of Illinois Orchid Society onsite and are also happy to answer questions. And on those weekends, you can also buy orchids to take home. When you are here, there is a wide gamut of those things that you can. ,
People like orchid shows not only because it brightens a dull time of the year, he said, but also because it reminds the people of the coming spring.
“Orchids are one of the flowers from which people are only so enamored,” he said. “They are just so different and interesting and unique. They have many types of orchids in hybrids in the species. And I think the way we display them is just so unique and we do something different with them every year. ,
