Carnival Celebration crew pull 20 migrants to safety after spotting small vessel north of Cuba – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Miami (WSVN)-A cruise ship crossed the path with a group of migrants on a dangerous open water trip. The crew then came to his rescue.

Hundreds of passengers riding on the Carnival festival used to clap and cheer as the crew members rescued a group of migrants on Saturday.

The crew of the ship saw a tattred vessel of migrants at a distance of about 20 miles north of Cuba as they were going back to Portmiomia.

Passengers gathered with decks as the ship gave 20 people a twist to help enter the small boat.

“We were sitting outside on the open deck, and it blew us, but we were going in the other direction, so we were like, ‘Wow, what was that?” Passenger Don Legrand said.

“It was worrisome because you look with a small boat, like, there are 19 people and dump water by boat,” the passenger Jelon said. “I mean, it is not even considered a boat. It is a small, small boat than the capacity.”

Velon told what happened next.

“Our cruise ship gave a turn and safely approached the people, and then they threw a life jacket with a rope and simply drove the people again and secured the small boat in a cruise ship,” he said.

Once the ship alerted the US Coast Guard, one of his cutters was capable of saving 20 people that officials say that Cuba is.

According to USCG officials, the migrants will be returned to Cuba.

“They were packed there. This was a scary reason, if we did not go, they could have made it – would they have made it? “Legrand said.

There was no injury.

Passengers said that the entire ordinance took a few hours, and then the festival left in Portmia.
