Byron Tigers decided that it was his to take.

Bayran puts a defensive pressure and in the third quarter dropped the Princeton Tigers out of 14–4 and gained 11 points and a lead of 25 to 25 in the second half and won the Friday Class 2A Mendota Sectional Championship to win 59-33.

“He certainly raised the defensive end, scoring the transition points. We did not have a lot of turnover in the first half, but the second half picked up the turnover, and he feeds the defense, ”said Princeton Junior Noah Laporte. “The protection of our half-court was not very bad. They actually feed that 1-2-2 presses. ,

Princeton ended his season in the sectional finals for the second straight year with a record of 17–16.

Laparte started the third quarter for the 25–24 Princeton lead.

“Once we were able to limit them to a shot and join the transition, we reached a couple run,” said Bayran’s coach Matt Hules. “They are big and strong, but I felt that we have the benefit of speed. We could not just rebound the first half to get those transition buckets.

“Once we made a run, I think our press started wearing on them.”

Senior Daniel Sosa hit a 3 for Princeton, but then Bayran closed the shop with six more points to go above 56–34. PHS coach Jason Smith approved his bench as his tigers again reduced to the sectional championship.

Tucker led all scorers with 26 points, and team partner Jack Hivale added 16.

Laporte and Daniel Susa managed to jointly jointly (with Laporte 13) for 49 points in a semi -final win over Rockford Christian on Tuesday, just eight out of eight in the second half.

Bayran (29–2) defeated Sterling Supersensional against Chicago Latin on Monday at 7 pm on Friday night by Latin defeated Christ 43-32 in Elmhast sections on Friday night.
