Buffalo Rock State Park may get a new bison around the first week of November.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is working with the US Department of Agriculture to receive an additional buses in Buffalo Rock to work as a partner of a 14 -year -old resident Bison.
Holi, the 20 -year -old Matrieric Bison in the park, was a disease and was euthanized on 5 September. Holi lived in the park since 2005 and gave birth to a pebble in April of that year.
“We are demanding a 2 -year -old woman to live in the park with a 14 -year -old, pebble in the park,” said Daniel Bell, the site superintendent of Illinois and Michigan Canal State Trail in Morris. “It is estimated that Bison will come from Wilmington’s flock to Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie. We expect Bison to be taken to Buffalo Rock around the first week of November.”
In October 2015, Bison was re -presented to Midwin. The Midwin Bison herd is a small conservation herd that was introduced as a 20 -year experiment in restoring the landscape for the native Talgrass Pyary.
The bison in Midewin rotates on 1,200 acres of land. Buffalo lives within a stranded area of Bison Park in Rock.
