Hundreds of Carrie residents were lined up in the corridors of Ashworth Drugs on Wednesday as the store temporarily reopen its door earlier this month.
With barely any room to stand up, the generations of local people scored a run for the shelves for the last occasion to buy a piece of history of Ashworth or to sit on the fountain for a famous hot dog and an ice cold orange.

Many people stood in line for more than an hour to take tangible memory home. Some people talked with Wral News to share the fond memories of Ashworth.
“I am a Carrie native, who graduated from Carrie High School in 1968,” said Gayle Queen. “It was a great place for everyone to come after school and enjoy cherry coke, hot dog and just a good time.”
