Antiook police said on Friday they accused a person of a village resident of drug -induced murder in 2023 drug overdose.
Police said 20 -year -old Jack Foley of AntioC Township was taken into custody in connection with the death of a 17 -year -old village resident.
Police said the youth died on 11 February 2023 at a residence in 400 blocks of Illinois Route 173. Earlier the respondents were called to the house which found the youth unanswered. Officials said that a dead body was later shown in the examination that the youth died due to taking Phantenal-Laced Pills, which were sold in the form of Opioid pills.
An investigation revealed that the youth bought bullets from Foli, which was an acquaintance. A arrest warrant was issued for Foli and taken into custody.
In addition to drug-induced murder, Foli has been accused of illegal possession of a controlled substance, which was with the intention of distributing, police said.
“A 17 -year -old lost his life, while another youth would have to live with the results of his decision to engage in the distribution of these dangerous substances in our communities, which not only within our community but all the communities across the country,” said the Antiook Police Chief Geoffrey Gutcho.
