Police said two boys were shot in a car chase on the south coast on Monday afternoon.
The boys were traveling in a vehicle on 7800 blocks of South Eskanaba Avenue around 1:43 pm when a black sedan began chasing him. Inside the black sedan, a person took out a gun and according to the police, started shooting in the direction of the boys’ car.
The boys left the vehicle on 7300 blocks of South Kenwood Avenue and started running towards 7400 blocks.
The 12 -year -old child was shot in the stomach and was taken to the children’s hospital in good condition. The 14 -year -old man took a gunshot wound for the buttocks and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
No arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, later in the day, around 5:20 pm, the authorities responded to a report of a person in the possession of a stolen vehicle, which led to a SWAT incident on 7800 blocks of South Burnham Avenue, where boys began to chase from less than a mile.
The police will not say whether both are connected. Two people were arrested, and there was no injury.
