The Oak Brook Park district announced the introduction of several new inclusive programs this year, which was being held at the tennis center facility.
According to a news release, the adaptive tennis program was launched on 21 January with eight players, 10 volunteer assistants and full class of two coaches.
“Our dedicated staff members started preparing for the event by participating in an adaptive tennis training in September 2023,” said Elin Pop, Superintendent of Enterprise Operations. “Oak Brook Park District Tennis Center hosted this training and was an excellent experience. The staff was fully prepared and understands this new approach to play tennis. ,
Release said that adaptive tennis junior players are open with cognitive or developmental disabilities from 11–17. Each player is assigned an auxiliary to help enhance game experience in a fun and inclusive setting.
Oak Brooke Park District Tennis Center asks all parents/parents to send an email [email protected] If interested in participation, according to the release. A tennis center staff member will contact them to share information, answer any question and help them with nomination in the program.
This program will be again available from 6 pm to 7 pm on 18 February, 17 March, 25 April and 19 May.
Additional inclusive programming can also be found at the Family Aquatic Center in Oak Brooke Park district, stated in the release. Opportunities include sensory sensitive hours and adaptive swimming lessons. Adaptive Private Swim Lessons are now introduced at the Oak Brooke Park District Family Aquatic Center.
