Lisa Saltzman, a patron in the world of art and design, is starting a new award dedicated to identify emerging photographers. In addition to honoring the recipients $ 10,000, the annual Saltzman Award will support the Contemporary Art Fair Photofteer New York.
“I’m trying to give an opportunity really,” Saltzman told Supervisor“I know how impressive money and a show can be for photographers.”
He made a prize in partnership with the Center for Photography at a non -profit art organization, Woodstock (CPW), who would present a single exhibitions for the Saltzman Award winners at his photofare booth. Saltzmanman hopes that the initiative will help the growing stars as they break up in the industry. “It is very difficult to separate yourself and make a career,” he said.

Who is the inaugural Saltzman Award Nominated person?
The inauguration of the award enrollment selection spreads the globe. The shortlist includes a photographer located in Eric Gyamfi, Ekra, Ghana, who examines the physicality and chemical processes of the medium; And Patriss Aphrodite Helmar, Juneau, a multi -woller artist of Alaska, whose practice is investigated by the politics of labor, class, queue and representation. Saltzman said that when it comes to factors such as age, the award has very few restrictions. “Anyone can be introduced to photography at any age,” he said. “They can be 60, 70 – it doesn’t matter.”
This year’s recipient will be selected by a panel including photographer Debora Willis, Magnum Foundation President Susan Meeselus and Asia Society Museum Director Yasufumi Nakamori. The winner will be announced in March and will be celebrated next month at the CPW Vision Awards.
Saltzman has long been involved in photography, showing his work in a gallery like Lemart Gallery in Berlin and London’s Brick Lane Gallery. Her first memories with medium were in childhood, when she was gifted to a Konika camera and tippai by her father Ralph, late co-founder and president of textile manufacturers Desigtex.
Ralph and his wife Muril, who died in 2020 and 2022 respectively, were important art patrons. He founded the Saltzman Family Foundation in 2020 to honor his heritage. It has established the Arts Awards such as the Ralph Saltzman Awards, recognizing the product designers and developed in partnership with the London’s Design Museum, and the Ralph Saltzman Award for the Fashion Institute of Technology, a student design competition focused on innovative clothes.
With the creation of the Saltzman Award, Saltzmanman is expected to pay tribute to his family. “I am really trying to take my parents’ legacy as a philanthropist in myself,” she said.
