Former AL batting champion Tim Anderson agrees to 1-year deal with the Miami Marlins, AP source says – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Miami (AP)-Former Al Batting Champion Tim Anderson has agreed to a year of contact with Miami Marlins, a person with knowledge of the decision told the Associated Press on Thursday.

The deal for the shortstop is a physical pending, the person said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the deal was not yet declared. According to ESPN, the agreement costs $ 5 million.

Anderson is the first major free agent of Miami who is from Offsen. Chicago White Socks became a free agent in November, a two-year all-star after demolishing a $ 14 million option, completing a six-year contract.

30 -year -old Anderson spent all his eight major league season with white sox. After leading the leading league with an .335 average in 2019, Anderson hit .245 last year, 2018 only .240 average the second lowest of its big league career.

Anderson had only one home run and 25 RBI in 123 games for Chicago. In 2022, his RBI matched his clan, when he played in just 79 matches due to injuries. He dealt with the left knee and right shoulder agony in the last season.

And Anderson brings a fierce nature to his new team.

In August, he and Jose Ramirez of Cleveland threw punches, causing a bench-clearing dispute and suspension. Anderson, who made a hit to the jaw in Fractus, reduced his fine from six to five matches under an agreement with Major League baseball.

He placed his tag on Ramirez’s back as he stood up and entered him. Ramirez looked irritated and after getting up, he raised his finger on Anderson’s face and shouted. They used to fight again.

Anderson took off his glove and thrown the first punch and then another Ramirez missed the jaw of Chicago before countering him, surprised him and knocked him on the end of the informed dirt.

In April 2019, he was suspended for a game for a confrontation with Royals Pitcher Brad Keller. Anderson flipped his bat after running a house from Keller, then hit by a Keller pitch in his next plate appearance. Keller was suspended for five matches.
