According to a news release on Thursday evening, the city of Lawrence has received many questions about this.

Partnership with Imory University mentions an increase in the concentration of a national wastewater monitoring system, waste, recent hepatitis A virus (HAV) concentration in Stanford University, which has been found in wastewater processed in the Lawrence Cancons River waste treatment facility in early January. ,

The city joined the nationwide initiative to detect wastewater levels of infectious diseases -including Kovid -19, Monkey, Influenza A and RSV in 2022.

The levels of Covid-19 in wastewater were monitored as an indicator of the spread of the disease in the community during the height of the epidemic; However, this did not indicate that people would get Kovid -19 from drinking water.

Douglas County is not getting outbreak of hepatitis, but detection of waste water may indicate that there is transmission within the community, according to the release.

Lawrence-Duglus County Public Health Officer is encouraging health care providers to be aware of the symptoms of hepatitis and to vaccinate people who are at risk of contracting the virus.
