“Cruelty, character, they know what our spine is and our backbone as a program is the defensive end and defensive discipline and just overall discipline,” said David Rebibo, head coach of Harvard-Westlake. “They believe, they buy it and the evidence is in the pudding.”
Wulverin was unnecessarily struggling with his shooting in all areas-from the region, from the 3-point line and free-thro line. He made 36 percent, 23 percent and 68 percent respectively.
But under the leadership of Nicolas Khamenia’s 15 points and Robert Hint’s 15 points, Harvard-Westlake just scored enough to catch Mustang for shooting 30 percent from the ground to remove the victory.

“Today our best shooting was not one of the nights, just not one of our nights,” said Khamenia. “But the defensive end took care of it. We rebound well, we took the ball very well. He scored only 47 runs. ,
Woolverin maintained an edge for the entireness of the game, but Mustangs made a late return to the fourth quarter when Dornage Slater killed a couple of corner 3-pointers.
Roosevelt brought it within three points, but after missing a pair of Trent Perry’s free throw, Hinton was fouled at a rebound attempt and made both free throw to help him pull Harvard-Westlake.
Slater led the Roosevelt with 18 points. Breeden Burriaz scored 14 points.
“I am just feeling a lot of feelings,” Hinton said. “Nothing like that. I am very proud of my team, our coaches and I am very happy that we pulled through it. ,
Harvard-Westlake has a large collection of trophies in its case, including six straight Mission League titles and a CIF state open title, but this is the first CIF-SS Open Division Championship for Wolverin.
It was a goal from the beginning of the season to capture the CIF-SS Crown, and now a purpose left in this season list-the title of the state.
“This is something we have been chasing for a long time,” said Khamenia. “My new year year we lost this game in Sentenial. Last year we did not make it in this game. So this year it was an emphasis. We had some incomplete business. We found this one but we still have to go to another. ,
