St. Bede to face Ida Crown in first supersectional in 24 years – Shaw Local

Last year, in her first season as St. Bedy Girls Basketball Coach, Stephanie Mickle directed Bruce to a 9–21 record.

But he saw the ability to achieve a lot of success for Bruce this year.

Mikle said, “We saw the glimpse of last year what his ability was.” “We know them. The first year as a coach is difficult for him to get a rhythm. They actually bought in coaches. Coaches are very connected. We communicate well. We have good relations with children. You must have that correct combination and the right drive. We just keep encouraging them and kept telling them that they can do anything that they want to do if they work hard. ,

And now, St. Fleet is on the verge of its first state tournament appearance.

Bruins (28–7), who matched Serena on Serena on Monday, match the school record for winning Serena in the Class 1A Gardner-South Wilmington Sectional Final, faced IDA Crown (20-3) at Harvest Christian Academy Superstitional at 7 pm on Monday evening at 7 pm.

This is the first supersectional appearance of St. Fleet since 1999–2000 and its first elite is eight berths.

“I am very proud of them,” Mikle said. “I want to thank the community and parents in Saint fleet to believe in America.”

Both teams are riding a win in supersens like. Bruins have won 17 consecutive games on 28 December with their final disadvantages, while ACES has an 18-game winning line with his final defeat 7 December.

“They have three external shooters about whom we need to worry about,” Mikle said. “I am not sure about their size-wise, but they spread the floor well and they do as we do. I know the shooting out is their strength.

“We are going to completely close our hands completely in our defense, are playing clean defense and staying out of trouble and closing them.”

Senior Ilana Schwartz is an average of 25.1 points per game for Ida Crown. He scored 24 points and scored 11 rebounds in the 61–56 win of the Wilo Academy in the Collins Academy Sectional Final.

Junior Daria Lennon scored 10.5 points for IDA Crown and had 20 points and eight boards in the sectional finals.

“We are really going to tighten our defense, go to man-to-man or box-and-one. I am not sure yet, ”said Mikley. “These girls are capable of running different defense, so we may have to try some things before we can find out what the best is working.”

Ida Crown plays 1-2-2 zone defense and runs some man defense.

Ali Bosnich takes the Bruin crime with 16.1 points per game. Bosnich had 24 points in the sectional semi -finals, scored 15 runs in the final and six points of 1,000 are shy for their career.

Ella Hermis contributed nine points per competition and Ashlin EHM average 8.4 per game. The EHM has strengthened in Postsen with a game-high 19 points in the regional final and the game-high in the sectional finals with 22 points.

Bosnich and EHM are also important to help the St. fleet to control boards as they are 7.2 and 6.7 rebounds per game respectively.

“We don’t have enough time to prepare, but we’re just going to search for holes,” said Mickle. “I tell the children all the time, sometimes we have to strengthen things with our crimes to work. We are going to those things later this week. ,

Mikhale said that Bruce should play the sound fundamentally and be ready to adjust on Monday.

“Like [Thursday’s game]In the end we had to rely on the basic things, rebounding, solid defense, being smart with us, going on the ball, ”said Mikhale. “At this stage, I want to keep it simple with them and trust solid defense, control the rebound and play our game and do not fall into their style of playing. [Against Serena]When we did not need, we were running too much on the press. We had to launch them a little. We are a running team, so asking them to slow down is a long order because they like to run.

“But sometimes we have to make adjustments that we do not use and we have to continue to do the same thing on Monday. We have to adjust as required, they have to re -receive them, explain it in a way that they understand that we are able to change quickly. ,
