Bomb threat on charter bus transporting NE Miami-Dade students prompts evacuation of Fort Pierce Service Plaza – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

The danger of a possible bomb reported in Port St. Lucy has motivated a service plaza on Florida Turnpike and several charter buses to transport students from South Florida, officials said.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, buses, which were transporting students of Michael-N Russell Jewish Community Center in Northeast Miami-Dade, were temporarily stopped at Fort Pierce Service Plaza on Turnpike near Mile Marker 145.

Investigators said that a student approached a soldier and provided a text message referring to the threat of the bomb within one of the buses.

As a precautionary measure, the service plaza was evacuated, and the students were taken to a local school.
