Former McHenry man sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for cutting woman’s face with knife – Shaw Local

A former McHeenry man accused a woman of cutting a woman’s face with a knife, convicting the domestic battery on Friday and was sentenced to 4½ years in jail.

Roselio Cantu Junior, 54, who has since moved to Zion, will be at mandatory supervised release for four years after completing their gel period, of which he should serve 85%, said McHeenry County Judge Mark Gerahart.

He will receive credit for 13 days spent in county jail.

Cantu was sentenced on Thursday, but the plans changed after being found drunk. On suspicion that he was intoxicated, Gerharrt ordered him to deposit on a drug and alcohol screen.

The screen showed that it was more than double the legal limit for driving. Gerhart caught him in contempt of court, and was immediately taken into custody in a county jail.

On Friday, he appeared before a judge in Orange Gel-Zari clothing and increased the hooliganism of a class 2 as part of a petition for a domestic battery. The allegation can take a period of three to seven years in jail and it is also probation.

Roselio on Thursday apologized to Gerharrt for being intoxicated and admitted that it was derogatory. His lawyer, Patrick Brady said that Roselio struggles with depression and alcohol and “embarrassed and repentance” to get drunk in court.

According to the McHenry County Court records, in exchange for the guilty petition, increased batteries, domestic batteries and intervention were rejected with reporting domestic violence.

Roselio was accused of swinging a knife, whom he knew, cutting his face and prevents her from calling 911 on January 8, 2022, shows records.

According to a news release, according to a report, Cantu was arrested after replying at a house in 1900 blocks of the concert drive at around 9 pm.

The woman told the police that the man hit her on her face with a knife, the police said at the time of her arrest.

As per the release, she was able to leave the house and shout for help, and the neighbors came to help and called 911.

According to the release, the woman was rushed to the Northwestern Medicine McHanery Hospital with an injury, which was not a threat to life and was released a few hours later.

Attorney Brian Miller of Assistant State said the terms of the sentence “reached after comprehensive consultation with the victim,” and she was compromising with it.

“This is what she wants to be,” Miller said.
