Teenagers can no longer fly single at Dell Amo Fashion Center – not at least after 3 pm on Friday and Saturday.
The Torrence Shopping Center owned by Simon Property Group began to implement its new youth supervision policy on Friday, March 1.
The policy, which Simon declared last week, should be with minors with an adult, who is at least 21 years old after 3 pm on Friday and Saturday. Niti said an adult would be allowed to walk with four children, but the guardian “would be responsible for the actions of all the youth they support,” Niti said.
The new policy came to the shopping center in recent months in response to the big, chaotic disputes, including about 1,000 minors. These incidents temporarily closed the malls quickly and nearby roads.
On Friday, the shopkeepers stated that the new policy – with an increased security presence – provided a sense of security in one of the country’s largest and busiest malls.
Police cars started arriving at the mall some time before 3 pm on Friday afternoon. Along with the mall security guards, Torrent police officers patrolled the campus. The indications that underlined the policy were visible throughout the center.
“This is a good program,” said Rain Lee, a resident of Palos Words Peninsula.
Lee, who completed shopping on Friday afternoon with friend and partner Peninsula resident Jackie Zhang, is a mother for both a high school student and a primary school student.
Lee used to trust his elder child, when he used to shop with his friends in the mall, to keep an eye on the younger. But after hearing about last year’s disputes between teenagers, Lee said, he exhausted that system.
Lee also recalled the police while sniffing Marajuana in the air and arrested the police for some time during late night trips in the mall.
With the new youth supervision program, Lee said, she will shop “feel more easily” in the mall.
The Simon Property Group, for its share, said in a Thursday statement that the program is “in partnership with Torrent PD and with the support of the city of Torrence, there is an increase in our existing security program.”
The statement said, “There will be more protection and police on hand to help implement this new policy,” and to provide a pleasant and family -friendly shopping environment. ,
When age restrictions are effective, adult supervisors, as well as those who appear as unaccounted minors, can be asked to confirm the identity that they are at least 18 years old. Simon said that individuals would be asked to leave the campus as a result of providing acceptable identity or failure to follow the policy.
Acceptable forms of identity include a driver’s license or ID, a military ID, a school ID or a photo and passport with a date of birth.
Fashion Center, Simon, said in his statement, “the program” will implement “equally, fair and non-discriminatory. ,
The aim of the new policy is to increase the tendency of uncontrolled events among young people at Dell Amo Fashion Center.
In late December, a meeting of 1,000 youth resulted in a dispute at the fashion center. Officials said the Torrent Police arrested three girls and two boys, all of whom live in areas near the city. Two additional persons were injured during anarchy.
Police closed the roads around the mall for seven hours, while they created a ruckus.
Earlier, in August, the police were called Dell Amo to break a battle – including about 1,000 minors. Police replied that pedestrian officials saw a meeting of disruptive teenagers, which increased in size and disturbance.
An officer was injured during a scuffle, motivated the Torrent Police to request assistance from other law enforcement agencies. The mall closed its doors four hours before the schedule.
Summer incident occurred on National Cinema Day, when many theaters across the country offered $ 4 movie tickets including AMC movie theater at Dell AMO.
Witnesses and mall employees said that the change in the movie theater was born before the entire shopping center proceeded.
Zhang was in the mall during that incident. He had just finished watching a film with his friends and his children. The theater closed its doors when the teenagers tried to escape, Zhang said, so separated from two children of the adult group, who were out before the doors were closed.
“We were very worried because we saw a lot of police outside and gave blood on the ground,” Jhang said. “I would not like to live through it again.”
Another mall Shopper, Jessica Ruiz, said on Friday that she learned about controversies on the news and thought “it was good to have any kind of security, just to see how it helps the situation.”
The San Pedro resident said, “If they see it away from the taper,” San Pedro resident said, “then they may be resting back to (policy).”
David Montess, a resident of lifetime torrent, said he came to know about the policy on Friday as he had seen a lot of police around the mall.
This is a good idea, he said, because it is “safe for people, safe for shops and safe for businesses.”
