Huntington, W. V. , University High’s wrestling team got to do something on Saturday night, the program has not been done since 1956 –
Celebrate the state championship winning.
In the last two years, the runner-up at Class AAA, Hawks approved that three individual champs stood up for other plaser and the WVSSAC in Mountain Health Network Arena strongly stood up with 204.5 points at the State High School Wrestling Tournament. The university received the previous rescue of the state champion Parkersburg South, which ended the runner-up with 193 points. Woodro Wilson finished third with 165.5.
University coach Kane Machal, Class AAA Coach of the Year, said it is a moment to remember. He started coaching the program 29 years ago.
“Children are feeling good. This is what we have worked for, ”Massel said. “When I started we were sad and bad. To come from where we are now. I have always told him that if you want to become state champs, then this is what you have to do. ,
Massel has just one senior in one in 11.
Brock Kehler ran the university with a pin in the final in Heavyweight to get unbeaten for the season.
“What is a way to finish,” Massel said. “He is unbeaten. Could not ask anything better. ,
In 106, Paper Martin opened the title in exciting fashion as he defeated Dallas Owens of Spring Mills 4-3. Owens received a reversal with 45 seconds to proceed 3–2. With the remaining 15 seconds, Martin did his job to make a reversal and held a victory. At the beginning of the third, Martin picked up and gave the point.
“I knew he was strong,” Martin said. “He took me down, noticed that much time left and I knew I had to go. Didn’t come to lose. Amazing.”
Regarding the team’s title, Martin said: I like it. We got second place in the last two years and hurt it. This was a team’s effort. ,
“Very happy for him,” said Massel. “He really works hard for everything. He finally went for this. ,
Luka Felix maintained the speed for Hawks with a win at 165 for his second state title. He is moving towards the northern Carolina state for wrestling.
“It matters a lot to me,” Felix said. “Whatever work I do, not everything I do. Take the speed forward in that match. The attack is Minset.”
It is special to take the team’s title back to Morgentown. Hawks finished second in the last two years.
“The state means a lot. We came so close, but did not complete it. Our friends (eight who kept) get a lot of credit. They came through, put their head up. ,
The university won the West Virginia State Team Duals with a win over Parkersburg South.
The Point Placecent in Class AA has returned after Fairmont Senior ruled.
In the championship round, the big blacks followed 5–0. Champs are: Carter Price on 113, Nathan Wood in 126, Gunner Andeick 138, Josh Vayan 165 and Colon Weaver 285.
Big Blax coach John Boncator said, “Last year inspired us a little.” “We sat back and took the inventory. This is the place where it ended. ,
West Virginia State Duals was inspired by winning the West Virginia State Duals with a win on Fairmont Senior.
“I wanted that picture in his head,” said Boncatter. “This helped us make a statement.”
Wheeling Central won Class A with 90.5 points. Greenbier West finished second with 74. Isaac Martin won 215 for the loan title of Vheel Central.
In the Girls Division, Parkersburg South with 93 points. Liberty Rale was second with 88.5.
This is the first year when the state of girls is held with boys. All his wrestling took place on Saturday.
