The AWP is located in Grant County, but the Preston County had two major operations. Tuesday’s fair will be held at Kingwood Christian Fellowship from 10 am to 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on State Route 7.

Roberta Beiler, Executive Director of the Preston County County Economic Development Authority, said that Resource Fair is the first step in an attempt to bring back stability in those families.

“This is a great first step; Hopefully our second step will be to hold a job fair for these people, ”said Biler. “We have no firm on it yet, but we hope something is really coming soon.”

It is believed that lenders on AWP and company officials responded to shut down their operations. The closure excluded 650 company workers and another 200 contractors overnight. The operation of the company at Preston County included a chirghar in Kingwood and a kiln operation in the Bruceton Mills. The company was also a material supplier for AHF product manufacturing, who was a national manufacturer of the hard surface floor.

Bayler said that the loss of job is important locally.

“The Kingwood number was probably between 75 and 100, and the Bruceton Mills number was probably around 50,” he said.

Members of the West West Virginia Rapid Response Team will be at the resource fair to meet the workers. The information available on Tuesday is expected that the next step will be to change the lost income.

“Job opportunities, employment insurance benefits, unemployment, retirement scheme, education and training which are available, and help them with various community resources.”

Bayler said that many companies, not all Preston County, need workers and have reached them. This information is being organized by the Economic Development Authority and is available at request by calling 304-329-2299.

“We are compiling a list to our office, and if people want to contact us directly, then for information about who has reached us, we will be more happy to give them that information,” said the boiler.

Recycler, bionic tires are expected to open a facility in Valley Industrial Park this year that will provide employment to 50 people in full operation. The company makes a variety of products from rubber taken from recycled steel and tires, while eliminating the tires.

“They will be under construction in a month or a month and will operate with expected by the third or fourth quarter of this year,” Beller said. “There are a lot of good tasks with great benefits for the people of Preston County.”
