The competition for the Illinois House marks the third and final batch of the Tribune Editorial Board support in primary.
36th district
The district covers a small part of the south -west side of Chicago and leads to the west in the west such as evergreen parks, Oak lawn, Chicago Ridge and Palos Hills. Democratic rape Kelly Burkes, who have represented the district since 2011, have been retiring. Democrat Ric Ryan, a lawyer, and Sonia Anne Khalil, a administrator at the city of Markham, is running to succeed him.
Ryan has practiced an individual injury law in Oak lawn for three decades, but has been involved in local politics and has helped Burke in his initial race for the seat. He has supported him well. He told us that he is a liberal democrat who focuses primarily on a safe neighbor, where people can raise a family and return to do so even when their children grow up. He describes the district as a “status quo district”, where people want things to be the same as they are. Voters are concerned about public safety and doubt the safe-T Act, they say.
Ryan would potentially support the resumption of cash bail, but, on the other hand, he does not shut down the defendants without non -violent offenses accused and long criminal records.
Khalil, 34, says that access to health care is the most pressure issue in front of the district. She supports the safe-T Act and is usually somewhat more on the left to the left than many voters in this district.
She describes herself as a “lifelong” supporter of a woman’s right to choose an abortion, saying something she says that Ryan cannot say. Ryan allowed that he ran to the state Senate in 2000 as a life-supporting candidate. “Most of the women of my life told me that I was wrong,” he says, and he says that she has been a staunch supporter life since then.
The Khalil Abhiyan has pointed to a period of nearly a decade in which Ryan was unable to pay all federal taxes that were outstanding by him. He says that he was fighting cancer (Khalil, too, one cancer survived) during that period and chose to keep his legal staff employed, while he was unable as a only businessman who was unable to generate more income. Since he has paid what he is outstanding, he says, and no one challenges.
Ryan has clearly made some mistakes, but we feel that his views are more with his district.
Rick Ryan is supported.

Kankek is the focal point of this district, which extends to the surrounding areas beyond the city. Four Democrats are competing to challenge Gop rape Jackie Has, which are unopposed to primary.
He is a member of the Kankek County Board Robert Ellington-snips; Retired Kankek School Superintendent Geneva Walters; William “Billy” Morgan, a Moni Township Trustee and a press officer for former village Pat Quin; And a machine operator at the Dialon Mill, AHF’s hard wood floor plant in Kankeke.
The 63-year-old Ellington-snips claim the most political experience of four, serving the Kankek County Board for more than 20 years. 55 -year -old Walters are headed by schools for a decade. The 33 -year -old Morgan works at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago and was under the administration of the village Pat Quin. The mill is 23 years old and calls itself a “young and ambitious” and indifferent to the political party label.
Ellington-snips, a crisis counseling supervisor in Kankek schools, says that education is the most pressure issue in the district and asks for more investment. Walters, also, focuses on education – is not surprising given the experience of running local schools. She says that the lack of teacher is a pressure issue. Morgan, who has support for Illinois Federation of Teachers and Planted Parent Hindud, is emphasizing for property tax relief and a child tax credit in the state. The mill believes that education and economic development are the most important issues before the district.
Democratic voters have many candidates with influential credentials to choose from. On balance, we focus the most on the issues of the kitchen table of Morgan.
Billy Morgan gets our support.

This Ken County district includes parts of Batavia, Geneva, Arora and Ososo. Democratic rape. Matt Hanson is in his first term and is being challenged by Arad Boxenbaum, who ran against Hanson in 2022.
Both candidates are intelligent and broadly agree on most issues. 24 -year -old Boxbaum, who seated the Geneva Public Library Board, says Illinois voters must get a referendum to get a referendum to implement the right to abortion in the Illinois Constitution. Hanson is accompanied by sympathy and a legislative task force is working on the possibility of notes.
In a recent voter platform, we were influenced by Hanson’s fine answer to a question about the Landmark Green-Energy Act implemented in 2021, which excludes fossil fuels in power generation in the coming two decades. He mentioned the deadline in the law to achieve a few milestones, which is unlikely to be achieved already – a practical issue that arose during the debate on that law (was in the General Assembly before Hanson). Boxenbaum stressed during the stage that it would not accept any donations from fossil fuel companies.
Hanson blamed for driving under the end of last year. He said that he took full responsibility and said that he would go through the evaluation of issues related to alcohol and take any step recommended in that process. We do not think it should disqualify from public service, assuming that it does not recur. We think Boxenbaum shows the promise, but we have our support for Matt Hanson.

Ruby Red District, south of Decatur, includes Taylorville and Efingham and is depicted by GOP Rape Brade Halbrook. A member of the Illinois Freedom Caucus, Halbrook is one of the more conservative members of the Illinois House. His challenger is Marsa web, who has the support of former Gop Gubaranatorial candidate Darren Bailey.
Halabrook promised when for the first time to limit himself to five words. If he wins the reunion, it will be his sixth term, so he has broken that pledge. He supports the removal of the situation of Illinois as a sanctuary state. Asked if he feels that Joe Biden won legally in the presidential election in 2020, he expresses exaggeration with the firmness of the question and does not directly answer, “The 2020 election is over. The time has come to move forward.” One reason is that we still ask this question. Do not look beyond a possible GOP enrolled person for the President.
We know very little about the ideas of the web, but we are not a fan of Bailey. We reject to a support in this race.

The GOP rape is the Blain Wilhor representing this southern Illinois district east of Belleville. The first-term representative is facing a challenge from the Matthew Hall, a member of the Fayet County Board, Chairman of Fayet County Republican and a reform officer for three decades.
Wilhaur, a member of the group of Darren Bailey, who has reduced Chicago, has earned an Ire of the Illinois Education Association. The State Teachers Union has supported the challenge of the hall, and Wilhor has called for an organization to deny the financial support of an organization that he says that is “vok agenda”. The hall states that Wilhaur is ineffective and represents an approach in effect that the productive connectivity with the democrats comes with a job.
“Sometimes you have received a terrible bill and make it bad,” he told Wandalia Radio. “You do this that ready to work in the corridor and says,” Let’s do it and compromise. ” There is nothing wrong in compromising. ,
Amen.
Matthew Hall wins our support.

Four-Term Gop Rape. Dave Saverin represents Carbondel to the north of this huge district. It is Angela Evans to challenge her as inadequate conservative, who defines himself on the Facebook page of her campaign as a “Pro-Trump, Pro-Life and Life Member of NRA”.
Severin was challenged a few years ago, to be a temple to vote for the reconstruction of Illinois, the first major infrastructure law of the state was implemented over the years, funding in part by high gas taxes.
