Gayle manchin (Apalachian Regional Commission)
The federal co-head of the Appalachian Regional Commission, Gail Manchin, was traveling with his colleague Gai Land on 29 January, when he was killed by a suspect who escaped from the police outside Birmingham.
Manchin and Guy were admitted to the UAB Hospital for treatment for injuries for a few days after the accident. Both were on their way to attend an arch grant workshop.
Senator Manchin told Metronavs Flagship Station 580-WHCS on Wednesday in Charleston that the entire incident was “a miracle”.
“Okay God was looking at him. He became a t-bone,” he said. “She is recovering, but she is uprooting.”
Homewood, Alabama police said the suspect was later arrested on charges of hooliganism.

“They were chasing a criminal through the streets of Birmingham and the man just ran through the light and hit them and hit them right behind her door. If he collides with her door, God knows that we can’t be with her today, but it was just a miracle,” Manchin said. “I am very grateful.”
